The Timeline View is the primary diagnostic tool for Team Managers. For large organizations handling dozens of projects and hundreds of resources, the app provides a High-Density Compact Layout that allows managers to oversee massive amounts of data without constant scrolling.

1. High-Density Visual Coordination

The compact layout is designed for "big screen" productivity. By reducing vertical noise and optimizing the timeline grid, Team Managers can:

  • Compare dozens of resources simultaneously against multiple project demands.
  • Spot portfolio-wide bottlenecks at a glance across a wider temporal window.
  • Rapidly identify fulfillment gaps without switching between individual request screens.

2. Interactive Planning: The Timeline Drawer

Staffing is performed via the Interactive Timeline Drawer, an inline editor that replaces tedious date-entry forms with direct visual manipulation.

  • Draw & Resize: Click and drag on the timeline to create allocation periods or assignments. Grab the edges of a bar to snap dates to the nearest day.
  • Visual Capacity Control: Use the Capacity Slider (5% to 250%) to define exactly how much of a resource's time is required for a specific period.
  • Real-Time Validation: While assigning, the Team Capacity Panel updates instantly, showing the impact of an assignment on a resource's total load before you commit.
  • Working Copy Semantics: All edits are held in a temporary state. You can discard changes with Cancel or persist them by clicking Confirm/Save.

To accelerate high-volume planning, the drawer supports a professional hotkey set:

  • Nudge (← / →): Move the active edge of a selected bar by one day.
  • Jump (Shift + ← / →): Move the active edge by seven days.
  • Undo (Ctrl/Cmd + Z): Step back through up to 50 changes in the current session.
  • Delete: Quickly remove selected periods.

4. Precision Capacity Tracking

Unlike simple spreadsheets, the capacity view calculates availability with 1-minute precision, accounting for:

  • Global & Team Calendars: Holidays and company-wide shutdowns.
  • Individual Availability: Approved time-off and partial-time contracts.
